Preparing Vegetarian Appetizers for Parties Is Easier Than You Think

Non-vegetarians always find it difficult and even stressful to prepare food for vegetarians. Yet it is a very simple and easy task. More and more people are becoming vegetarians these days and vegetarian appetizers for parties have become a must at any party.

These preparations take up less of your time than any other preparations. Throw together some tahini, olive oil and some salt; add some crushed chickpeas from a tin and you have yourself an enjoyable dip called hummus. To give it that real hummus taste you must add crushed garlic. This is a dip for everyone at your party and not just for your vegetarians.

If you want your vegetarian guests to feel a little bit more special, make them some crisps from Kale or Spinach. You do not have to remove the stem, because they could hold onto it when they dip it into the guacamole or hummus you have prepared. These crisps do not require any salt as they already have their own salty taste. All you have to do is fry them with fleshy leaves in some oil until crisp.

One appetizers most people would not think of is to make some flower fritters. There are many flowers which are edible, but the ones that you would most likely have in your garden are your nasturtiums and lavender flowers. All you have to do is dip them into some batter and fry until golden brown. If you leave the stems on, when picking them, it will be easier to hold. Both of these flowers have a relaxing quality and will make your guests very comfortable.

Jalapenos are great to use as appetizers for vegetarians. Slice them open and remove the seeds inside and fry or bake in the oven. If they are reasonably large you could fill them with any type of filling that would enhance the taste. Steer clear of cheese as not all vegetarians eat or drink dairy. Because they come in lovely green or red, they would be very attractive as garnish at the same time.

A batch of samosas is always a hit. These are Indian pastry triangles with a filling. Not everyone can make them so they are available at your local supermarket in the frozen section. You have to deep fry them, but if you drain them n some paper towel most of the oil will soak away.

Samosas can also be filled with meat for your non-vegetarian guests. Also try using some potato, yams or sweet potato. It makes a nice thick filling that won't drop out like your other vegetables. These are one of those appetizers which never fail!

The same goes for bruschetta. All it takes is for you to slice your French loaf into slices and prepare a special topping for it. Pre-heat the oven and toast the slices until crisp or golden brown. Add the topping and set it out on a plate in a decorative manner. A combination of shredded spinach, fresh basil, garlic and topped off with tomato has never disappointed. Add simple flavoring such as salt.
